Treatment for ADHD
Recent studies report ADHD prevalence among problem gamblers in the range of 21–42%, far above the general population rate of around 4%. Individuals with ADHD are approximately three times more likely to develop problem gambling compared to those without it. ADHD and gambling disorder share overlapping neurology as both involve difficulty with impulse control, reward-seeking, and tolerating boredom. For someone with ADHD, gambling can feel like one of the few activities that holds attention and delivers immediate feedback. That same neurological profile also makes stopping significantly harder. Treatment for co-occurring ADHD and gambling disorder accounts for both the impulsivity and the addiction, rather than treating them as unrelated problems
