alcoholism and problem gambling go hand in hand
Treatment for Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol is the substance most commonly linked to gambling disorder. Research has found that the odds of being a pathological gambler are 23 times greater among those with current alcohol dependence than those without it. The two often reinforce each other in practical ways. Alcohol is present on casino floors, at sportsbooks, and in the social rituals around gambling. It lowers inhibitions, accelerates losses, and makes it harder to stop. Among clinical samples, studies report that 75% of people in treatment for gambling disorder had misused alcohol, with 59% showing harmful or hazardous drinking patterns. Treatment addresses both the drinking and the gambling rather than treating them as separate problems with separate solutions.
