Stock Market and Day Trading Addictions
For most people, the stock market is a tool for building wealth over time. For some, it becomes a vehicle for chasing highs, recovering losses, and feeling the rush of a bet placed under the guise of financial planning. Compulsive trading often escalates into options, margin, and increasingly risky positions.
Like crypto, the financial framing makes it harder to see clearly. A person can lose everything in the market and still be seen, and see themselves, as just an aggressive investor.
Am I Addicted to Trading?
- Do you trade for the rush of it — feeling flat or restless on days you don’t have a position open
- Have you moved into options, margin, or leveraged trades primarily to win back what you’ve lost?
- Do you check positions compulsively, and does a red day change your mood, sleep, or behavior with family?
- Have you downplayed or hidden your losses — to others or in how you track them yourself?
If any of these sound familiar, it may be time to talk to someone who understands gambling disorder specifically.
